Résumé

"Black stain" is a black or black-brown, exogenous tooth discolouration. It is characterised by dark lines or groups of black dots in the cervical third of the tooth crown and runs parallel to the gingival margin. It is a special form of strongly adhering deposits (plaque) on the tooth surface with an increased tendency to calcification.
